Uptown Pilates on Madison offers instructorship in several formats: Private Sessions, Semi-Private Sessions, Mat and Tower Classes. Each session lasts fifty-five minutes and is taught by an Authentic Pilates ™ certified instructor. All sessions and classes will provide you with a total body exercise which will dramatically improve your strength, flexibility and posture.
SESSIONS & CLASSES:
Private Sessions – One-on-one sessions are the most effective way to focus on your unique needs, injuries or personal concerns. During these sessions you will have the opportunity to utilize all Pilates’ apparatuses (Reformer, Cadillac, Chairs and Barrels) in addition to incorporating Pilates mat work. This session is highly recommended for first time clients and people who want to receive the full benefits of the Authentic Pilates ™ method. This is the best way to become familiar with the terminology and movement of Pilates.
Semi-Private Class - An opportunity to explore and "own" your individual Pilates program while receiving technical input from a shared instructor. Similarly to the Private sessions work is done on all of the Pilates equipment and mat. It is strongly recommended to take private sessions before starting semi-private sessions. Limited to 2 participants.
Tower Class - Joseph Pilates created all the equipment to act as additional muscles to aid the body on it's path to health - the group Tower class accesses the weak or illusive areas of your body to uniformly build alignment, muscular balance and aerobic, flowing movement. Limited to 5 participants.
Mat Class - The true essence of all Pilates work. Mat classes offer an aerobic series of floor work exercises designed to create body alignment, long, lean muscles and core strength. Clients are placed in different level classes according to their abilities and physical limitations. Currently limited to 8 participants.

MAT & TOWER CLASS LEVEL DESCRIPTIONS
Beginning - The basic Pilates exercises in a well-rounded workout focusing on improving abdominal support, increased breath capacity, precise control, and "moving from your center". This class will build your foundation for a successful understanding of your body and the Pilates method.
Beginning/Intermediate - Learn new exercises as you grow more adept at performing the flowing Pilates movements with increased breath capacity, mental and physical control, and strengthening core, or "Powerhouse".
Intermediate/Advanced - For students experienced and strong in their Pilates, who are now honing pelvic and shoulder stability, spinal articulation and overall uniform development. This class offers a dynamic and fast flowing tempo.
Advanced - A vigorous opportunity to explore the full sequence of Pilates exercises executed "at tempo". Not for the faint of heart!!
