SENIOR INSTRUCTORS
Carolyn Driscoll - Carolyn began Pilates at the age of 17 after a knee injury from gymnastics. She has had the opportunity to study with some of the most revered instructors in the Pilates community, including Romana Kryzanowska and Bob Leikens. Carolyn is certified through the Pilates Studio and has since taught in studios in Boston, New York, San Diego, Tokyo and Newport Beach.
Aside from Pilates, Carolyn enjoys yoga, running, surfing, and skiing and has always felt that Pilates contributes to her abilities in these areas. She is excited to be back in New York where she hopes to continue teaching with enthusiasm and a freshness that will inspire her clients. She prides herself on giving her clients motivating and tough workouts that leave you knowing you got a great session!

Lynann Escatel - Lynann first heard about Pilates when she injured her back and knee. After years of dancing she decided it was time to start thinking more about her body. Jumping at the chance to be trained by Romana Kryzanowska and Sari Mejia Santo, Lynann is thrilled to now be able to teach something that she enjoys and finds exciting. Lynann likes to make sure that each workout is exactly what your body and mind needs.
Everardo Gonzalez - Artist & Educator for the past 10 years, has followed Mr. Pilates footsteps in teaching his legacy, "Return to Life". His goal as an instructor is to help clients achieve their goals through movement. As an educator, Everardo guides you to release whats been holding you back and helps you restore whats been lost. Ultimately he will help you retain a more youthful body, mind, and spirit by defying gravity and lifes daily stresses. He will help you understand your individual structure and how it functions through movement with balance and a sense of weight distribution so you can defy gravity. He is here at Uptown Pilates so you can be the dynamic you and enjoy your life with a more uniform developed body. That is Mr. Pilates' Legacy and that is a typical session with Everardo.
Jill Hansen - Jill recently relocated from California to New York and is very eager to pursue her dreams in this inspiring city. A former dancer with companies throughout Southern California, Jill found pilates to be the perfect compliment to her career in dance and acting. After practicing Pilates for several years, she wanted to pass on the gift that it gives your body to others. Classically certified in Los Angeles, Jill prides herself in building a partnership with each client, assisting them with their goals and gaining the most out of their bodies.
Lian-Marie Holmes - Lian-Marie was introduced to Pilates during her dancing days at Boston Ballet. However, a change of career, kept her interest at bay for several years. After receiving her MFA in acting she decided to take Pilates as a way to help her regain her “formerly in shape” body. She instantly was hooked and soon after enrolled for her certification in the Romana’s Pilates program. Lian-Marie’s excitement for how Pilates can awaken your body and therefore completely change your daily life comes through in her teaching and she loves watching that same passion come alive in her clients.
Eva Kim - Eva Kim is both a dancer and choreographer. She holds her MA in Dance and Dance Education from New York University and her BA in Physical Education from Kyung Hee University. Seeking to incorporate an understanding the human body, Ms. Kim also hold certification in yoga through Yoga Works. She trained and taught more than a decade as a fitness trainer and dance educator in both Korea and the US. She enjoys creating challenging workouts for any ages and level of fitness.
Yael Lubarr - Yael has studied ballet since the age of 5, and graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor degree in Dance Arts with High Honors, and a Bachelor degree in English with Distinction. While studying in the Merce Cunningham Professional Training Program on scholarship in New York City, she decided to obtain her Pilates teaching certificate from the Romana's Pilates program, run by Romana Kryzanowska and Sari Mejia Santo. It completely changed and strengthened her body, making her fully aware of the benefits of authentic Pilates training, not only for dancers, but for everyone. Yael is absolutely delighted to have the opportunity to teach this wonderful and effective method at Uptown Pilates.
Michelle Mandel - Michelle is from Boulder, Colorado and has been classically trained by Pilates Uptown and the Pilates Center in Boulder. Being classically trained gave her the opportunity to experience exercise at a level that challenge both her mind and body because she learned such unique principles of life through movement. To further her education she attended numerous workshops and teacher training courses learning Kathy Grant work, common pathologies, anatomy and alignment. Her passion for Pilates changed her life after suffering from a neck injury due to a car accident. This profound experience rehabilitated and revitalized her spine and reawakened her soul. Her body physique changed and she gained a better awareness of the important connection between the body, mind, and spirit. Her goal is to inspire people from all walks of life by adding meaning, confidence, and better posture to their lives.
Lucy Robinson - Lucy was introduced to Pilates in 2002 while studying classical dance at the Grand Rapids Ballet Company. She found the exercises effective and complimentary to her dance and sports training. Upon moving to New York City, Lucy began working at Uptown Pilates (on the UWS) and entered the Authentic Pilates certification program under the direction of Brett Howard. Lucy has taught in Manhattan, New Jersey and Michigan, and aims to give each client a tough yet enjoyable workout tailored to individual needs.
Meghan Sudol - Meghan began her Pilates training with Anthony Rabara in 1997 after her ballet teacher suggested that every body requires a strong core to stand tall and erect with ease. After she completed her degree in Dance Performance from the Hartt School, University of Hartford, Meghan continued her Pilates training and certification with Bob Liekens and Susan Moran at Power Pilates in New York City. Meghan's goal is to improve her clients' physical and mental fitness by building a strong core and building up a strong self-esteem.
Anmarie Touloumis-Dobbs - Anmarie is originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico. She received her B.F.A at the University of Utah and then promptly joined the Ballet Theatre of Maryland as a soloist dancer and teacher in 1994.
Anmarie was first introduced to Pilates in college. She studied under Susan Moran and Bob Liekens earning her Power Pilates certification in 2002, her second certification. Anmarie's method of teaching is a unique combination of her classical dance training plus her classical Pilates knowledge.
Together these philosophies compliment each other offering her clients a precise way of approaching the Pilates Method. Anmarie's husband, Joshua, teaches at Uptown Pilates on the Westside.
Marianne Veehoff - Marianne, a former actress, received her training from Romana's Pilates. She fell in love with it years ago and finally decided to dedicate her time to teaching it to others. Being an avid runner, she discovered new found strength, flexibility, and endurance thanks to Pilates. Known for her humor and resilient teaching style, she tries to make her clients smile as well as sweat!
Vehia Walker - Vehia began her Pilates training in 2000 after a fellow dancer introduced her to the Pilates “Series of Five” abdominal exercises, which left a lasting impression. She loved the principles behind Pilates and the long, lean look it gave her body. In 2001, she attended an introductory Pilates course in New York City. Upon completion of this course, she knew she wanted to be an instructor. However as a dancer, rehearsals, performances and traveling did not allow time for anything else. In 2004, she entered the Authentic Pilates program at the Pilates Studio in New York City headed by Brett Howard. Since then, she has taught throughout New Jersey and Manhattan.
Adrianne Yurgosky - Adrianne studied Political Science and French at Fordham University and became introduced to Pilates. After continuously taking classes, she decided to dedicate more time to learning the method. Adrianne has primarily worked with athletes who struggle with flexibility and want to enhance their performance. However, she enjoys working with everyone and understanding how the method can work specifically for them.
